Billings Pro App Reviews

One of the few of its kind!

That’s a great app, the only features ut could improve its the visualization of the statuses of the projects and the due dates, I think the statuses are so limited and the visualization of due dates are so discrete. It let us insert the project priorities also. Another tool which could be improved is the layout editor, it could be more drag and drop or accept the import of a stationery. But its one of the best of its kind. No doubt!

Stupid...

free app - fine, but you must pay for hosting your data - $20 for a month minimum is to expensive...

@nasM Hosted

There are other options, if you dont like to pay the $20 per month. You can buy the Standalone version of Billings in the App Store for a one time fee, but there you dont have features like multi user or over the air sync. Or you can host you own Server by installing Billings Pro Server on a Computer and buying a license for that.

Doesn start up

I still run 10.7.5 and the app wont even start up at all. Sorry!

Lie

This is not a free app its just a demo for 30 days.

Requires a server or cloud account...

I disagree with a previous commenter, its not a lie, its well indicated that you require either a paid cloud account from them or your own server setup. This is only a client app, the server side is not free. Be sure to check if this is what you need. If you are a more than one person using this software (or plan to be), then the Pro version is what you need. If you are by yourself, then the non-Pro version is the right one. Like it very much. Although designing your own templates for invoicing is a bit of a challenge. Use the built-in ones and add your logo in the preferences, its much easier.

Still not Mountain Lion Ready

I tried the Billings Pro Solution, but the server component hangs at "connecting to the billings pro configuration". I believe Daylite is a pretty cool app enhanced by an intuitive and surprisingly responsive mobile app. This experience though is very dissappointing...

Do not get involved with this program

Going to billings pro was the biggest mistake I have ever made. I am hoping that all my downtime and frustration does not have to be repeated for more people who spend there $ on this product. This review is to prevent this product to waste others time. Im not trying to be bitter but I do not think that this program meets the standards that Mac is famous for. Typically we trust programs made for mac but obviously that has changed and we have to read the reviews. I would say the biggest frustration about this program is the tech team and there lack of knowledge about there program. First of all they do not have phone support and it takes about 2 days for the team to email you back and as a business owner 2 days without your invoicing program is not fun. When they do get back to you it is rare that they have a solution for you. I end up figuring out the issue myself or have to wait a few weeks for there update to come out. The program is not user friendly and is totally designed for them and there knowledge about design. Ufortunatly for a business owner we dont have time to learn there random setup and there are tons of quirks that have to be solved by there support team that you would never think to do because there specific to there tardy programming. It takes them an average of 2 weeks to update there system following Mac updates. As long as I have been relying on Billings I have had to not update my system for at least a week after the update is released. With the most recent update 10.8.3 it actually crashed my mac to the point my system files were corrupt and I had to re-format. After speaking with the head tech at mac about this issue we went through the error codes and billings is all over that and has been corrupting files for a long time forcing me to wipe my computer and set it up all over again. When this was brought to the tech team at billings pro / Marketcircle they just replied "Its working fine over here" If you go from billings to billings pro you can not go back and now they are pushing you to the cloud so that you can pay monthly for billings pro something that should have worked before, admitting that the admin side was not working well they offer 2 months free but they will not mention that you can not go back if your not happy with the cloud service. So if you get pushed to sign up dont! I have invested a lot of time and money into billings and have ended up having to redo everything under a different program. So all the hours creating billing items and all my data from the 1000s of invoices all has to be re-entered. I really hope this review helps and I hope that it did not sound bitter. Just want to help from my learnings :) Thanks

Archaic Network Setup

Been trying to use this with off and on success for a couple of years, extremely frustrating application, with extremely poor stand-alone network setup. Timecard has frustrated my employees to no end. I am so sad about wasting so much money setting up seats for employees that has resulted in so much down time. Look to newer systems like freshbooks with awesome customer support and reasonable per user costs; with zero downtime and simple access for employees to enter time records and expenses. I have switched since May to freshbooks, and will not look back.

bla bla bla

As soon as the app opened I was prompted to go to another website to get hooked up with another cloud server to be able to even start working with the program. Extremely frustrating not worth the time or effort for a simple invoice program.

It doesn’t work ! don’t waiste your money

i pay for this, and all i have is the app icon, i clic on it, and nothing ! i want my money back !

This is a good app, but be prepared to pay the subscription.

I used Billings for ages, loved it. It is a great app, very user friendly but still with lots of power. Now they have moved to Billings Pro, which is a subscription-based service. It’s still a great app, but be prepared to pay a subscription just like any other business app. Still, it works very well if dealing with corporate clients, not so useful if you are, say, a wedding photographer because of how it organizes clients, but good nonetheless. For the price if all you want is Invoices I would say don’t buy, but if you want a serious solution, it might be worth the price.

Just Doesn’t work

App can’t create offline database and just doesn’t load

new feature to be added

Would be great to add purchase order and invoice crosslink option.

A bunch of THEIVES

I can’t believe they switched to a monthly subscription. I paid $40 for the previous version of the program, and everything was just fine. I do a little freelance here and there. Sometimes I’ll do one project a month.. Sometimes several.. And then there are times where I won’t need to bill anything for months at a time. With the previous version of billings, the $40 cost for the program was perfect for me. Their new subscription plan is absolutely ridiculous, and makes continued use of their service impossible for freelancers like myself. What a huge disappointment. I’ll be looking for another invoicing program too. The developers behind Market Circle should be ashamed of themselves for being so greedy.

Its not FREE if you have to buy a subscription

Its a misnomer to place an app like this under the heading of Free, when there will be a cost involved to use it. I liked the look of the interface of this app and it sounded like it would fit my businesss needs. However, it was a shock to learn that it would cost me $19.99/month to use after my Free 30-day trial was over. Maybe Apple should create a "Free with Strings" category; it would be more honest and I wouldnt waste my time exploring options I already know wont work for my business.

Misleading

It is not free. Apple should remove over this. Free should be free end of story.

Disappointed

I was hoping this to be a solution for billing all in one (specifically for client billing). Although it is a good Billing app, I do find it VERY user un-friendly. Viewing client information is literally displayed in a tiny area in the bottom left hand corner and you have to click link after link to be able to find what you want. It just isnt simple to use and/or understand, and this is coming from someone who has been using Billing software for years. I was hoping this would replace the one I already use, called WHMCS, but unfortunately wont be.

NOT FREE | IT IS A 30 DAY TRIAL

This is not free it is a 30 day trial and then you can choose from two options 1 for $20 per month and the second option is $299 this is not free. Free is when you do not have to pay for something.

Interface is Great, but Software has Issues

Our company purchased Billings Pro in early 2010 and upgraded with multiple machines and added Billings Pro Server. We love the simple applications for Billings, and they made invoicing a breeze! Something that can often be so combersome and boring. The templates that they provide in their software are great options for people in the creative industry, such as ourselves. However - Once we added the server, we started having many issues. Any time that there was a software update to do, Billings Pro Server would repeatedly not work. This caused many workflow issues in our business, causing our response time with customers to slow down, and our workflow to screech to a halt. I have had many interactions with the support team at Market Circle. While their response time was typically relatively fast, the amount of time that I had to invest with them in repairing an issue with the whole Billings system was far too extensive. None of the bugs were fixed by a quick "flip of a switch". Once we upgraded our OS systems to Lion, the entire Billings System wasnt usable for weeks - as Billings tried to fix the bugs. When our company made the switch to QuickBooks about 4 months ago, we had to spend upwwards of 10-15 hours in communications with the MarketCircle Support team, to try to get the export to IIF to work. In the end, after theyd done all they could do, the files were never able to be exported correctly. BillingsPro is now just a history archive of the last 2 years of our business, and weve wiped the slate clean and started with Quickbooks. I wonder if we never would have run into these issues if we hadnt added BillingsPro Server to our workflow?
